I'm going to run away!

Story:

Wooly was a little lamb who loved to run and jump.  Do you think he would stay in the fold with all the other lambs and sheep?  Oh no!  Every day he would run away, even though the shepherd called him by name.  Well, one day he wandered far away, jumping at butterflies and exploring every flower and tree.  He did not notice that it was getting dark, until he woke up underneath a large tree.

He was all alone and he knew there was terrible danger from wild animals.  He shivered with fright and thought, "Should I stay and face possible death or would it be better to return to the fold?"  He shook his head as he tried to make up his mind.  What choice do you think he should make children?  (Let the children respond).

Yes, at last he decided return to the fold where there was safety in the hands of the Good Shepherd.  He ran back to the fold as fast as he could and jumped right into his shepherd's arms!  Whew!  He was safe and the Shepherd cuddled him in his strong arms.  That night Wooly slept safely knowing that he was protected by his Shepherd.

The devil doesn't wants us to belong to Jesus.  We must decide which way we want to go.  We can choose to go God's way and learn to love and obey God.  If we do this and ask Jesus to come and live in our hearts, then we will become one of God's children.  The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Good Shepherd and that he died for us, so that we can go to Heaven when we die.  John 10:14 says:

"I am the Good Shepherd, I know my sheep and My sheep know Me."

Are you going God's way, or running away like Wooly?  I hope that you belong to Jesus and are learning to know Him as your Best Friend.   Let's say the memory verse together ....

God bless!
