God Provides Our Needs

Application:

A puzzle activity to teach memory verses to children.

Memory Verse:

"Your Word is truth." (John 17:17)

Materials Needed:

Felt-tipped pens.
Envelopes.
A front cover from a used greeting card for each child.

Age Group:

Preschool to Grade 2.

A memory verse card puzzle

Preparation:

  1. Choose cards with front covers that have pictures of food, water, animals we eat and vegetables.
  2. On the back of each card, print a short Bible verse or paraphrase that tells of God's provision of our daily needs.
  3. Cut each card into about nine puzzle pieces and place the pieces in an unsealed envelope.

Introduction:

Give each child a puzzle to assemble, and optionally offer a small prize for first child who first completes the puzzle.  Then let them assemble their puzzles on the reverse side and read out their verse.

Offer a small gift if they can say their verse from memory.  They must then return all the pieces into their envelope and exchange it with another child.  The activity can then repeated.

Sample Verses:

The following are a few sample verses (see Simple Memory Verses in the Tween Activity section for more verses):

  1. He satisfies our mouth with good things (Psalm 103:5).
  2. I shall not want (Psalm 23:1).
  3. The Lord made all things (Proverbs 16:4).
  4. He sends water to the springs (Psalm 104:10).
  5. God shall supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19).
  6. He causes the grass to grow (Psalm 104:14).
  7. The Lord has done great things for us (Psalm 126:3).

God bless!
