Introduction:
God made the day and the night, so we don't ever need to be afraid when we
go to bed at night. God cares for each one of us and we all have a
guardian angel to watch over us while we sleep. When you go to bed
tonight, ask Jesus to stay with you in your room and keep you safe.
We are going to make a picture that you can put in your room. It
will have a moon and stars to remind you that God looks after them, even
though they are far away. If God looks after the moon and stars,
He will certainly look after you as well!
Activity:
- Give each child a sheet of blue and black paper, glue,
scissors and a number of stars.
- Help the children cut a skyline from black paper and glue
it onto the bottom of the blue sheet.
- Let them paste a moon and a number of stars onto the night
sky to complete their pictures.
- Optionally give them a printed Bible verse to stick on their
pictures.
- Alternately let them copy or stick on the text below:
"God made the Darkness and Light,
So I won't be afraid in the Night!"
To Finish:
Next time you look at the night sky you will see all the stars twinkling
down at you. Perhaps the moon will be shining its happy face at
you. And then when you go to bed, just think about our loving God
smiling down at you. God never sleeps and nor do His guardian
angels. They are right there in your room watching over you and
keeping you safe.
Now you have a picture of the moon and stars that you can put in your room
to remind you that God is looking after the moon and stars and He is
certainly looking after you.
God bless!
