Memory Verse:

Genesis 1:5, "God called the darkness Night."

Materials Needed:

A4 sheets of dark blue and black paper.
White and silver gummed or self-adhesive stars.
Moon shapes cut from white paper.
Glue.
Scissors.

Age Group:

Preschool to Grade 2.

The moon and stars shine brightly

Introduction:

God made the day and the night so we don't need to be afraid when we go to bed.  God cares for each one of us and we all have a guardian angel to watch over us as we sleep.  When you go to bed tonight, ask Jesus to stay with you in your room and keep you safe.

We are going to make a picture that you can put in your room.  It will have a moon and stars to remind you that God looks after them, even though they are far away.  If God looks after the moon and stars, He will certainly look after you as well!

Activity:

1.  Give each child a sheet of blue and black paper, glue, scissors and a number of stars.

2.  Help the children cut a skyline from the black paper and glue it onto the bottom of the blue sheet.

3.  Let them paste a moon and a number of stars onto the night sky to complete their pictures.

4.  Optionally give them a printed Bible verse to stick on their pictures.

5.  Or let them stick on a printed text reading:

"God made the Darkness and Light,
So I won't be afraid in the Night!"

God bless!
