Teaching Children

I need to know God's Word!

A Duty to Teach Children:

As teachers, we have a duty to teach and help children see that God is not a threat, or someone to hate, or be disrespected.  Psalms 78:4 says:

"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
His power, and the wonders that He has done."

Only the Holy Spirit can break down the bitterness and hate that can develop in families.  One of the Holy Spirit's tasks is to soften their spirits so that they will come to the point where they will accept Jesus as Saviour.  As teachers, claim that wonderful promise in Proverbs 22:6 which instructs us to:

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Reaching Children:

We are reminded in Psalms 127:3 that sons are a heritage from the Lord, and children a reward from Him.  As such they are a treasure from God and need to be guarded and guided until they reach maturity.  Who knows whether your child could be a future Billy Graham?  Psalms 8:2 tells us:

"From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise
because of Your enemies and to silence the foe and the avenger."

For us to reach a child, it is necessary to show them the love of Christ through the way we live our lives.  It is also our duty as teachers and parents, to pray for them every day and claim each child for the Lord.  Remember:

"First I learned to love my Teacher"
"Then I learned to love my Teacher's God"

Saving Valuable Souls:

Children have needs, desires and expectations and they have a soul that is eternal.  They must hear the Gospel in order to be saved.  They need to be discipled in order that they can live an overcoming life.  Children are people, too!  In fact children are not only the church of tomorrow, but they are also part of the church of today!

Ask God to burden you for the Salvation of the children in your church and for those in the surrounding suburbs.  Ask God to help you see their spiritual needs.  Mark 16:15 says,

"Go into all the world and preach the Gospel (Good News) to all people".

That means children as well!  Why not begin today and share Jesus with your own children, and then to children in your local Church?

Are You just an Observer?

The Church cannot afford to sit by idly and watch our children being destroyed.  We must fight back with the Spiritual weapons and might of the Lord at our disposal.  We must claim territory for God.  But, this battle requires Soldiers who are trained and equipped with the weapons necessary to defeat the enemy.  In Matthew 9:38, Jesus instructs us to:

"Pray to the Lord of Harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest."

Labourers are needed ... are you prepared to get involved in Children's ministry?  Pray and ask God to burden and equip you for this work.

God bless!
