Leading a Child to Christ
The good news of Salvation is that Jesus wants to live in each child's heart and become their Saviour, Best Friend and Lord. Using the "Salvation Hand" picture, here are six easy steps to help you lead children to be Saved and becoming one of God's children. Read each step to them and ask whether they wish to take that step. Then let them read the Scripture(s) out loud and make sure that they understand what the verse(s) means to them:
1. Realise that God Loves You:
"For God so loved (your name .....), that He gave His
only Son, Jesus Christ,
2. Realise that You have Sinned:
"For ALL have sinned and have not lived up to the goodness of God"
(Romans 3:23).
"For the wages of sin is death (spiritual separation from God forever)"
3. Believe that Jesus Died on the Cross to Forgive Your Sins:
"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
"I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.
4. Decide to Give Your Life to Jesus:
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins,
and to cleanse us from all wrong" (1 John 1:9). "But the gift of God is Eternal Life through Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23b)
If a child has decided that they want to live for Jesus, then let them
say this prayer and ask Jesus to come into their life:
Dear God, I know I have done wrong things. Please forgive all my sins and make me clean inside. Please come into my life and be my Saviour, and change me into a child of God. Help me to become the kind of person You want me to be. Help me to love and obey You in all I do. I receive this now in Jesus Name. Amen.
5. Believe that Jesus has Saved You:
"For it is by grace (God's loving kindness) that you are saved
through faith.
Now explain that they need to trust God to do what He has promised in their life. Next, get then to go and tell two or three of their your friends and family what they have done, and that Jesus now lives in their heart, and that they now want to please Him in all that they do and say!
6. Growing in Jesus:
They need to believe and realise that Jesus has forgiven their sin and
has made them clean inside with His precious blood. They are now
God's child and will go to Heaven one day when they die.
Help them to find portions in their Bibles that they can read each day. For example a chapter or a paragraph for Luke or John's Gospels. Teach they how to pray and that they should ask God every day to help them serve Jesus and please Him in every thing they do. Show them that they can grow as a Christian by going to Church or Sunday School each week so that they can learn more about God and the Bible. Lastly, encourage them to tell their friends about Jesus and that He loves them! God bless. Copyright © Sharon Children's Ministries
