Loaded Down!

Whew!  This is heavy!

We don't need to be loaded down with worries and fears, because God wants to bear our burdens!

A rucksack or kitbag heavily loaded with a number of rocks.

Psalm 68:19.

I need someone to come with me on a hike.  Can I have a volunteer?  Thank you.  Will you please carry my rucksack for me (Let the volunteer attempt to carry your rucksack).  You say it's very heavy?  Oh, no wonder, it's full of rocks! (Open the rucksack and show the volunteer all the rocks).

Now that's why I have been feeling very burdened and loaded down today!  I've been carrying around my rucksack every day just recently because I've been worrying about you kids.

Heavy Burdens:
  1. Some of you seem to be very unhappy at school, and you think that you won't cope, and will fail at the end of the year.
  2. Others don't seem to be able to make friends in your new school, so you are worried that kids won't like you, and that you won't fit in.
  3. Some girls are worried about their looks and that you don't have the right clothes.
  4. A few of you are worried about your parents fighting, and you are afraid that they may get divorced.
Carrying Worries:
All these worries and problems are too heavy to carry around.  I'm going to empty out my rucksack (Empty out all the rocks onto the floor and give the rucksack to your volunteer again).  Can you carry it now?  I'm sure you can as all the rocks are gone!

Do you know that we all have a Friend who is willing to carry all our worries, problems, cares and burdens.  In Psalm 68:19, David said:

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens."

All you will be left with will be a light empty rucksack!

Give Them Up!
God is our Father and in Deuteronomy 31:8, He promised:

"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you.
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid, nor be discouraged."

Yes, God is willing to take and carry those burdens for you.  The writer of Hebrews 13:6 assures us that we can confidently say:

"The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.
What shall man do to me?"

So give all your worries, care, burdens and problems to the Lord and He will carry them.  Let's pray together:

Dear Lord,
Please take our worries and problems.  We are thankful that we don't need to carry them any more as a heavy burden on our backs.  You are our Helper for You said, "All things are possible to him that believes."  And so we are trusting You to guide, help and strengthen us each day and carry our burdens.  We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

God Bless!
