Learning from God's Word
By Hearing:
Where can you go to hear God's Word? Make sure you go regularly to an
evangelical Church, Christian Club or Teen Church. The writer of
Hebrews 10:24-25 says:
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another,
and all the more as you see
the Day (of Jesus' return) approaching."
By Reading:
The Holy Spirit will speak to us as we read and study the Bible. As we
think on what we have read or heard, we can ask ourselves questions, as to
what it means, and how we should apply it to our lives.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,
a workman who does not need to be ashamed and correctly handles the
Word of Truth."
Acting upon God's Word produces change. By applying Scripture in
everyday situations, you will gain assurance, comfort, and encouragement.
You will learn to obey, turn from sin, love others, be thankful,
witness to others and pray. Pauls' advice in 1 Timothy 4:12 was:
"Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith
and in purity."
By Memorising:
Learn specific verses and promises that have been a blessing or have been
helpful to you. Look what Joshua 1:8 says:
"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth.
Meditate on it
day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful."
By Sharing:
Learning verses about Salvation will help you to tell others about the Lord
Jesus. In 1 Peter 3:15, the Apostle Peter has this advice:
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you
to give the reason for the hope that you have."
Do you read and learn God's Word each day? If not, why not start today
so that God can help you grow in Jesus?
God Bless!
