Well Watered Spiritual Growth

We have just finished re-doing our garden. With the hot, dry weather we were worried that the new plants would die. We watered the garden each day, and found that our anxiety was unfounded. In no time at all, the new plants started to send out new shoots, and then came masses of flowers. Now we are very proud of all our hard work!!

Our Spiritual Growth:

Reading the Bible is necessary for our spiritual growth, since it is through His Word that God speaks to guide us in every area of our lives. God uses His Word to instruct, to convict, to cleanse, and to give us victory. Like my garden, you need to saturate the your life with the Word of God. When we read it, and apply the principles to our lives, we grow.

Our Spiritual Faith:

God's Word is the source of our spiritual life. The key is to hear the Word. This means to read the Bible, understand what the portion says, let God write it on our hearts, and then to do what He says. The Bible is the source of our faith and is a lamp to help us walk in a way pleasing to the Lord. In Romans 10:17, Paul tells us:

"Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."

Our Spiritual Weapon:

Besides prayer, the Bible is one of our weapons against Satan's temptations to cause us to sin, and is part of our Christian armour. In Psalm 119:11, David said:

"I have hidden Your word in my heart so that I might not sin against You."

Rewarding Work:

Like my garden, reading the Bible is sometimes hard work. But, if you perservere, the rewards will come. First there will be the new shoots, and then you will find that your Christian life will start to develop and grow.

Next, you will find that the Bible will become your guide, in which you will want to search for ways to live your life, and please God in all you think, say and do. As you do this, you will find that the Bible will blossom and become the centre of your life, and your love for God's Word will grow by leaps and bounds.

Finally, your life will be filled with the love of Jesus and God's blessings. What a well watered life you will then have!
