Creating Adam II
Purpose:
To demonstrate to teens how God created us wonderfully in His own
image, and makes each part of our bodies to function marvellously
with all the other body parts. This game works great to
illustrate how each member of a team is vitally important and that
all must work together, or they will land up in a huge mess!
Materials Needed:
Many human bodies!
A Bible for each team.
A stop watch.
Small prizes (for example Jelly Babies!)
Preparation:
Arrange a short obstacle course down the hall using tables and chairs.
The human body Adam II will make his way throught this course
until he reaches the final chair where he will then place the Bible.
Text:
Psalm 139:14, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
How to Create His Body:
Today we are going to pretend that you made the world and now you are
going to create Adam II. I need you to form teams of six people
(you could use more if want to). Unlike God you will not use
dust to make Adam. Instead in your creation each person on the
team will become one of the following body parts - body, eyes, brain,
arms and legs. To create Adam II team members will climb onto
or hold onto each other to form his body. Don't forget that the
body must carry the brain! We will give you a few minutes to
create your Adam II body.
Making Adam II Come Alive:
God breathed into Adam I and he became a living soul. You will
make Adam II come alive by each body part performing their own function
when instructed by "BRAIN".
Adam II can only "walk" in a direction given by "EYES" who tells "BRAIN"
where they are and where they need to go. For example "EYES" can
say, "I see a chair in the way and we need to take two steps left".
"BRAIN" must then instruct "LEGS" what to do, "Legs move two
steps left" The whole body must then carry out this movement.
The same type of instruction must come from "Eyes" to "Brain" and
then to "Arms" in order to pick up or put down an object.
The Task:
God instructed Adam I to live in the garden of Eden and care for it.
Your task is to pick up a Bible and then "walk" Adam II through the
obstacle course holding the Bible which must then be placed on the final
chair.
Remember that each body part can only perform their own function.
This might sound complicated so we will give you time to practice and
you will soon get the hang of Adam II Human Body!
Application:
In Psalm 139:14, David said,"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made." The Adam II creation demonstrates how God
created our bodies in His own image, and made each part of our bodies
to function marvellously well with all the other body parts.
This game illustrates how each member of a team was vitally important
and that you had to work together or you landed in a huge mess!
And now we will have a Prize Giving to the winning team who
took the least time and did not cheat!
God bless.
