Look Who is on Your Side!
God is on Your Side:
We need to start by acknowledging that God is on our side and that He has called us to be teachers. However, sometimes we try to do everything in our own strength, instead of realising that God is waiting for us to ask for His help and strength. Philippians 4:13 assures us:
"For I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me."
It's not Programme Excellence:
As teachers, we naturally aim for the most fantastic programmes and lessons full of wisdom and truth. The result is often a sea of blank faces and no response! We can do our level best, but Psalm 127:1 warns us:
"Unless the Lord builds the house,
It's God's Work:
The Scriptures teach us that the work is the Lord's and not our own. As teachers and leaders we have been put into the vineyard as God's labourers. And so we labour relying fully on God to give us the results we so earnestly desire and pray for. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:6 that:
One may plough and another sow the seed and water it,
"This is my work and I can only do it
To be an effective teacher then, it's not how well you can teach, but how well the Holy Spirit can minister through you and reach into children's hearts and change them. In Nehemiah 8:10 there is a wonderful promise that we need to clain every day:
"For the joy of the Lord is your strength."And the best news is that this joy is available every time we come to God in prayer and worship. Be a joyful teacher and serve the Lord with all your might. And so, whether you are a new teacher or one who has served many years, as you learn, plan and teach, remember:
God is on Your Side!God bless.
