What's a Leader?
"Let no man despise your youth, but be an example to the believers,
What is a Leader?
A leader is a person who rules, guides or inspires other people. Soldiers who go to war need someone who will lead them, care for them and tell them what to do, so that they can work as a group and be effective in fighting the enemy. When an army is defeated, often the leaders are killed and then the soldiers retreat in fear. Soldiers are only brave and victorious when they work as a team under a good leader.
Leaders need to guide and direct the play of team members in netball, football, rugby and other games. If the captain just lets the players do whatever they like there will be chaos. Everybody will run around in all directions and there will be no defence. The opposing team would be able to score huge numbers of goals and the coach will tear his hair out in frustration!
If you look at kids in your school, you will find many do not have a purpose for their lives and are often drawn into gangs or so-called "cool" groups. They are then easily led astray into doing wrong things.
Becoming a Leader
Jesus went about doing good and multitudes followed Him and many became His disciples. You can show leadership by guiding others into doing good things and leading by example. You can help to keep order and have success in many situations. You can also find out where you are going, and how to do a tasks well.
Think about what leadership skills you possess and make a list of the skills and qualities you still need. Praying will help you get these, because God wants you to be a good leader.
