Who is the Holy Spirit?
The third Person of Trinity:
The Holy Spirit is the third Member of the Trinity composed of God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was sent to earth as our Comforter when Jesus returned to Heaven, and is our special Helper and Guide.
An apple makes an excellent Object Lesson to teach the operation of the Trinity. It has three distinct parts. The outer apple skin protects the fruit from damage and represents God's love and care for each one of us.
Next is the juicy fruit which we enjoy eating, just as Jesus is the joy of our Salvation!
Lastly, the core is not good to eat, but holds the seeds necessary to grow more apples. In the same way the Holy Spirit works in our lives and causes us to grow as God's very dear children, and then works through us to win others to Christ.
The Work of the Holy Spirit:
John's Gospel, chapters 14 and 16 tell us much about the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Amongst others, the Holy Spirit's work is to be always with us, and to:
Listening to the Holy Spirit:
If we listen to the Holy Spirit, He will keep us in the centre of God's will. The Holy Spirit enables us to pray with other tongues so that we may have true friendship and communion with God. He also prays through us so that God's will will be done in our lives.
Why Children Need to be Baptised in the Holy Spirit:
Today's child lives in a very complex and hostile world. They live in a world of uncaring adults who do not sense the worth of a child. Perverted sinful man now exploits the child through physical and sexual abuse. The newspapers are filled with headlines concerning child abductions, rapes and murders. The enemy has targeted children and teens for destruction.
Even the Church has neglected to see the value of a child. The Bible mentions the word "child" or "children" over 200 times, but it seems as if some of the Christian community have closed their eyes to these passages. Many churches provide no solid ministry for children. So how can children survive in today's antagonistic society? The only hope is for children to be filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Teaching Children about the Holy Spirit:
Children must be taught about the Holy Spirit and an atmosphere must be created whereby they will receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. If this is done, children will be empowered from on High to live a victorious life in Christ in this present evil generation.
While many Churches do not teach about the infilling of the Holy Spirit to children or even teenagers, the Holy Spirit was given to Jesus to give to whoever He would. What can you or I say to that? We cannot fight against God, because it is God's will to fill children with His Holy Spirit. And so, who are we to argue?
