Children need Guidance

We didn't know we was lost!

The Teacher's Example:

To reach children it is necessary to show them the love of Christ through our lives.  They must learn to trust us as teachers and leaders.  By sharing the Bible with them, they will come to see that God is not a threat, or Someone to hate, or be disrespected.

Our teaching needs to start by endeavouring to gain their friendship.  This will then provide us with opportunities to guide then with Godly principles.  We need to seek to be very sensitive to the moving and prompting of the Holy Spirit.  He will then use us to reach out to the child in true love and friendship.  The child will then see Jesus in us and will learn to trust us, and through this learn to trust Jesus as his or her Saviour.

With the negative view of fathers, we have found it necessary to emphasise that Jesus is our Best Friend.  After children have given their lives to Jesus, we teach them that Jesus is their Best Friend, Saviour and Lord.  When children are assured of their Salvation, the door is opened to God being their Best Friend.  And now that Jesus lives in their hearts, they have become God's beloved children and thus have the right to call Him, "Father".

A Duty to Teach Children:

As teachers, we have a duty to teach and help children see that God is not a threat, but the One who loves them and wants to be in their lives.  Psalms 78:4 says:

"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
His power, and the wonders that He has done."

Only the Holy Spirit can break down the bitterness and hate that can develop in children.  One of the Holy Spirit's tasks is to soften their spirits so that they will come to the point where they will accept Jesus as Saviour.  As teachers, claim that wonderful promise in Proverbs 22:6 which instructs us to:

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Reaching Children:

We are reminded in Psalms 127:3 that sons are a heritage from the Lord, and children a reward from Him.  As such they are a treasure from God and need to be guarded and guided until they reach maturity.  Who knows whether your child could be a future Billy Graham?  Psalms 8:2 tells us:

"From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise
because of Your enemies and to silence the foe and the avenger."

For us to reach a child, it is necessary to show them the love of Christ through the way we live our lives.  It is also our duty as teachers and parents, to pray for them every day and claim each child for the Lord.

Saving Children:

Children have needs, desires and expectations and have a soul that is eternal.  They must hear the Gospel in order to be saved and need to be discipled in order that they can live an overcoming life.  Children are important people, and are not only the church of tomorrow, but they are also part of the church of today!

Ask God to burden you for the Salvation of the children in your church and for those in the surrounding suburbs.  Ask God to help you see their spiritual needs.  Mark 16:15 says,

"Go into all the world and preach the Gospel (Good News) to all people".

That means children as well!  Why not begin today and share Jesus with your own children, and then to children in your local Church?

Are You just an Observer?

The Church cannot afford to sit by idly and watch our children being destroyed.  We must fight back with the Spiritual weapons and might of the Lord at our disposal.  We must claim territory for God.  But, this battle requires Soldiers who are trained and equipped with the weapons necessary to defeat the enemy.  Jesus instructs us to:

Matthew 9:38, "Pray to the Lord of Harvest,
that He will send forth labourers into His harvest."

Labourers are needed, but are you prepared to get involved in Children's ministry?  Pray and ask God to burden and equip you for this work!   May the love of God fill your heart with an urgent desire to draw children into the Family of God!

God bless.
