Our Sacrifice:
Most of you know that Jesus was the "Lamb of God". When John the
Baptist saw Jesus, he said:
"Behold, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world!"
(John 1:29).
I have here a toy lamb ( Display the toy lamb ). It's
cuddly isn't it. Did you know, that in the Old Testament times
you had to bring a perfect lamb to sacrifice to God if you had sinned.
We all sin don't we? And yes, sin is when we do something
wrong and disobey God.
Jesus Died for Us:
The Bible says we all have sinned and can never measure up to God's
standards. God doesn't want us to sacrifice lambs today because
Jesus died in our place. God accepted Jesus' death as our
punishment for all the sins we have done. He became our lamb
sacrifice lamb and that is why He is called the "Lamb of God".
When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, and ask Him to come and live in our
hearts, God changes us and makes us into one of His children. He
gives us Everlasting Life, so that when we die, we will go to Heaven
and live with God, Jesus and the angels for ever and ever!
The Lion of Judah:
I have brought along a toy lion ( Display the toy lion ).
Did you know that Jesus is also the "Lion of Judah"? As the
"Lion", Jesus showed the courage, might and fierceness of a lion.
Satan stalks the saints like a roaring lion, but Christ is the
conquering lion, overcoming Satan, death and Hell so that we can go
to Heaven. He is worthy to be our Saviour, Best Friend and Lord!
"See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah" (Revelation 5:5).
The lion is the king of the beasts, and Jesus Christ is the "King
of kings" (Revelation 19:16). As King He shows that He is
"The Lion of Judah" by His:
Majesty - rebuking the winds and demons.
Power - raising the dead.
Authority - "You have heard it was said ... But I say unto you."
The Lamb of God:
As a Lamb, He shows that He is the "Lamb of God" by His:
Kindness - "When He was insulted, He did not insult in turn."
Meekness - "Led to the slaughter ... He opened not His mouth."
Gentleness - "Let the little children come unto Me."
Jesus did all this and more! The question you need to ask is,
"Is He my Lord and Saviour?" If He is then you can truly
say, "He sacrificed Himself on the cross to pay for my sins as
the Lamb of God ... He is also the Lion of Judah by setting me
free from all my sins!"
God bless!
