Temple of the Lord?

Building up the Temple...

Bible Text:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit?  Who is in you, and Whom you received from God.  You are not your own for you were bought at a price, therefore honour God with your body."

Materials Needed:

Several square blocks of wood to build a temple like in the picture.

Age Group:

Grades 4 - 8 (10 to 14 years).

Lesson:

Are you building up the Temple of the Lord or a Tower of Disaster?  The Bible tells us that our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, so we can take these blocks and build them into a temple.  That looks good, doesn't it!

But what happens if we build the temple upside down?  Now its just a pile of blocks and if I give it a shove it collapses into a heap of blocks.  That was a Tower of Disaster wasn't it?  There is only one way for us to build our lives into a Temple of the Holy Spirit, and that's God's way.

What can we learn about being a Temple?  Well, Jesus is our Foundation, and so He is the bottom block.  We must then build our lives on Him by believing and trusting in Him.  The blocks you must add to your temple are when Jesus is:P>

  1.  My Best Friend and He is with me always.

  2.  My Saviour and He helps me grow.

  3.  My Guide and I follow Him.

  4.  My Lord and I serve Him.

If we take the first words, then to build a temple we need our Best Saviour, Lord and Guide, and that's Jesus.  And we need His help everyday.  Don't forget to ask for it!

God bless.
