Text:
2 Timothy 4:2-3.
Message:
In our text, Paul gives all teachers a charge:
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season;
Correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful
instruction.
For the time will come when men will not put
up with sound doctrine (teaching)."
In this passage Paul was speaking of the end-times in which we
live. What is to happen in these times? The Bible
tells us that they will gather around teachers, who will tell
them what their itching ears want to hear. That is
exactly what is happening in some churches today. Every
one wants to hear what is comfortable, and not what they ought
to do.
Time is Short:
Paul was concerned with preaching the Gospel that Jesus saves,
but also with warning people that the Day of Judgement is
coming soon. This is missing today and many people have
weak experiences with God and only have a form of godliness,
but deny the power of God. It seems as if the days of
real conversions are gone. They were brought about by
the conviction of the Holy Spirit and with true sorrow and
repentance.
As children's teachers and workers, God wants us first and
foremost to be examples to those we minister to:
"You are my witnesses, declares the Lord, and my servant whom
I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe Me, and
understand that I am He.
Before Me no god was formed,
neither shall there be one after Me" (Isaiah 43:10).
Are You Ready?
Dear friend, what is your standing with God? I pray that
you will search your hearts and lives and allow the Holy
Spirit to minister healing and revival into your souls.
Examine your teaching, and make sure that Jesus is always the
central Figure. Warn your children that Jesus is coming
soon and that we need to be ready for Him.
The only way to be ready for Jesus, is for us to be serving Him
with all our hearts. God wants us to really know Him, so
that His power will change our lives and bring peace, healing
and joy to us.
God bless!
