Mark 12:28-34.
Our text tells the story of how one of the teachers of the law came
to Jesus, and asked what the most important commandment was.
Jesus looked at him and replied:
"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your
strength."
The teacher of the law then said, "Well said, teacher! You are
right in saying that God is One, and there is no other God but Him.
You must love Him with all your heart, with all your
understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your
neighbour as yourself is more important than all the burnt
offerings and sacrifices." When Jesus saw that he had
answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom
of God."
When we begin to worship and praise God, we also have to acknowledge
that our only God is a Great, Big, Awesome God! Looking at
the above commandment, we find that there are four ways in which
we need to love God:
As teachers and leaders, let's be an example to the children and
check every day that we are loving God in these four ways.
We can test this by examining our prayers, how we worship and
praise God, our thoughts, our words, our actions and by the way
that we treat other people. Make a start today and know
that God will lead and guide and strenthen you, as you seek to
serve and honour Him in all that you do and say.
God bless!
