A recent visitor was telling us about her trip to Norway.
In winter, sheep are kept in a type of "house" to
keep them warm. This reminded us of Jesus being our
Good Shepherd. In John 10:11 Jesus said:
"I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His
life for the sheep."
In Norway the shepherds care for their sheep just as Jesus
cares for us. Jesus also died in to save us so that we
will have a home in Heaven and live with Him for eternity.
In summer, all the flocks are sent up into the mountains to
graze. At the end of summer, a shepherd will come to
where several flocks are intermingled and call out to his
sheep. But only his own sheep will respond to his
voice and come to him! They then follow the shepherd
as he leads them back to their "house", where he will keep
them safe throughout the long winter again.
What a lovely picture this is of Jesus calling to us.
We answered and now we love Him as our Saviour, Lord and
Best Friend. In John 10:27-28 Jesus said:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow
Me.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they
shall never perish,
neither shall any man snatch them
out of My hand."
Yes, Jesus called, and I answered and followed Him.
Today Jesus calls again, but, have you answered?
Remember, now is the time of God’s favour, and now is the
day of salvation (1 Corinthians 5:21). Tomorrow may
be too late!
God bless.
