Do you like eggs?  I'm going to cook this egg for my breakfast over my candle ( Hold the bottom of the egg in the candle flame for about 30 seconds until it is covered with soot ).  Oh dear, my nice clean egg is full of soot.  Never mind, it should be cooked by now ( There may be objections that it is not cooked ).  You don't think it's cooked?  Well, let's see ( Crack open the egg carefully, lift off the soot covered half shell, being careful not to get any soot on the white of the egg ).  There you are!  One perfectly done egg for my breakfast!

This egg is like our lives.  The bottom of the shell is covered with black ugly soot ( Show the shell half with the soot on it ).  This reminds me of what we were like before Jesus washed away our sins.  God looked at our lives and saw we were in darkness and that sin filled our lives.

When we asked Jesus to forgive our sins, He blotted out our sins and made us clean inside.  All our sins have gone, just like I removed the all the shell from my egg.  Now I have a clean white egg and this is how God sees us when our sins are gone ( Show the white egg ).  But, the best part of the egg is on the inside.

I am going to cut my egg in half ( Cut the egg across the middle to reveal the round yolk ).  Look at this nice round yolk! ( Show the yolk ).  It reminds me of the sun.  It shines, makes the plants grow and gives us warmth and light.   How sad we would be if God did not make the sun and left us to crawl around in everlasting darkness!  In John 8:12 Jesus said:

"I am the light of the world.  He who follows Me
shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Like the yolk in the middle of this egg, Jesus is the Sun in our lives and His warmth and love brings joy to us.  He lives in the centre of our lives in our hearts.  And as the Son of God, His light shines into our lives.  If we do something wrong, Jesus soon lets us know and we feel bad and sad, until we pray to Jesus and ask His forgiveness.  1 John 1:9 reminds us:

"If we confess our sins, Jesus is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

I'm hungry!  I need some food badly, so I'll eat my egg! ( Eat the egg ).  The egg is now part of me, just like Jesus wants to live inside us and be the center of our lives.  He wants us to pray every day to Him so that He can deliver us from temptation and sin and keep us safe and guards our way.  He gives us health and strength, answers our prayers and blesses us.

Jesus will keep us throughout our life and bring us safely to Heaven one day as we keep on obeying Him.  Truly like the yolk, He is the Sun in our lives, and His warmth and love brings joy to us.
