Here's a Cool Lesson Kids can share with Friends
Look in my mirror and what do you see? Yes, it's you! We
need to remember that we are made in the image of God, and are
not massed produced identical people, like cars rolling off a
production line! Genesis 1:27 tells us that:
"God created man in His own image."
We are not like this paper chain of fold-out figures (Cut out the
chain of green men and unfold them
). Would you like to be
a green creature? What would the world be like if we were all
the same - little green men?
No, every girl and boy is a "one-of-a-kind". Each one of us is
unique, just as our finger prints are different from everybody else's
in the world! Each of us has different gifts, talents and
We are Special:
In the same way, each of us has different ways of serving, praising
and glorifying God. In Psalm 8:4, King David said:
"What is man that You are mindful of him,
the son of man that You care for him?"
This tells us that God dearly loves us and that He watches over
us and cares for us. Why does He care for us? Because
He made each one of us special! David knew this and in
Psalm 139:14 he said:
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
Value Other's Differences:
We need to appreciate one another's differences, rather than laughing at
or mocking people who are different to us. Everybody who
has given their hearts to Jesus is very precious to God. Just
how precious? Much more precious than all the gold in the world!
Because God has made us His children - at the price of Jesus
Christ's own life. The prophet Malachi (ch3:17) in the Old
Testament tells us about a book of remembrance that the angels are
writing in God's presence. It concerns those who love, serve and
honour His name:
"They will be Mine, says the Lord Almighty,
in the day when I make up My treasured possession."
I want each of you to say "thank-you" to God every morning for making you
very special. I have a paper pattern and scissors for each of you
to cut out your own little green men.
