Touchable Jesus |

Bible Texts:Mark 5:22-24 and Mark 5:35-43 Materials You Need:A theatrical arm (obtainable from a flea market) or an arm made out of coloured cardboard and a shoe-box. Age Group:Grades 4 - 7 (10 to 14 years). Theme:Jesus is always reachable.

Lesson:Mark tells us the story of a man named Jairus. He came to Jesus one day and fell at his feet and begged Him, "Lord, my little daughter is dying. Please come and put Your hands on her so that she will be healed and live."
Approachable:
Now Jairus had a great love for his daughter and could not bear the
thought that she was dying. His plea touched the heart of
Jesus, and He replied, "Yes, I will go with you," And so
Jesus went with Jairus, and the disciples and a large crowd
followed.
Yes, Jesus is always Approachable! Touchable:
As they came near Jairus' house, some men came out and said, "Your
daughter is dead. Why bother the teacher any more?"
But Jesus ignored what they said and told Jairus, "Don't be afraid,
Jairus, just believe." Can you imagine what thoughts ran
through Jairus' mind? And when they came to the house, there
were people weeping loudly. But Jesus went inside and said,
"What's all this wailing and commotion all about? The child
is not dead but asleep."
The people laughed and mocked Jesus, and so He put them all outside and shut the door. He then went into the child's room with Jairus, his wife and the disciples. Jesus took her by the hand and said: "Talitha koum!", which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!"
Yes, Jesus is always Touchable! Reachable:
Immediately the little girl stood up and began to walk around the
room to their complete astonishment! Jairus could not
believe his eyes and as he wiped the tears away, he dazedly hugged
his daughter. "Master", he said, "It was so difficult to
believe You, but You have given me back my beloved daughter!"
And Jesus answered him, "Whoever comes to me I will never
drive away" (John 6:37b).
Yes, Jesus is always reachable! Application:
( Take the arm out of the shoe box and hold it out to the
children ). I have a hand here that that you can touch,
feel and hold. You don't have to be afraid. See, it
is approachable, touchable and reachable!
Why don't you reach out and touch it? In the same way you can reach out to Jesus. He is never too far away to hear the faintest prayer you can whisper:
