Application:
God is our Lord and wants to be King of our lives.
Text:
Mark 12:30.
Obeying the King:
Our lesson today is about our Heavenly Father, and how He wants to be
King of our lives. Does a king always have the right to rule
over his subjects? (
Let the children respond). Yes he
does. A king has the right to rule over his subjects and
insist that they obey and honour him.
The first thing that God wants us to obey is to love Him. Jesus
said that we need to love God in four ways:
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul,
and with all your mind, and with all your strength"
(Mark 12:30).
Loving God:
If we are to love God as the text says, then we must first ask Jesus to
come into our hearts as our Lord and Saviour. And then God will be
King of our hearts. Next we must ask God to fill us with the Holy
Spirit and with His power to change our lives. In 1 Corinthians 6:19
the Bible says that our bodies are to be the temple of the Holy Spirit.
This makes God the King of our bodies (our soul).
The Bible tells us not to think about bad things, but to always think about
good things that are true, pure, right, holy, clean and proper (Philippians
4:8). If we do this, we then make God the King of our minds.
Lastly, we need to serve God with all our heart so that we can please Him
in all we do. We need to do this with all our strength, and this
makes God the King of our strength!
King Four Times!
Now we can see that God is King four times in our lives! Here are four
things that God wants to be King over in your life. Read them out
loud if you are really sincere that God is King of your life! (
Let the
children respond):
- God is the King of my heart!
- God is the King of my soul!
- God is the King of my mind!
- God is the King of my strength!
This is how God wants to work out His plan to become Lord and King over our
lives. When He has completed this work we will truly be able to show
the love of Jesus to everyone we meet. Here are four things that God
wants in your life. Read them out loud if you really mean them!
(
Let the children respond):
- My heart loving only Jesus.
- My life given to Jesus.
- My mind thinking about Jesus.
- My strength used for Jesus.
Say these four things as a prayer every day, until God makes your life fully
like this.
God bless!
