A Quiet-time

Being still with Jesus

Getting to Know God:

A Quiet Time is a time every day that we can set aside to be alone with God.  It's a time for getting to know God by reading your Bible and praying.  This will help you grow as a Christian in your new faith in Christ, and learn to love Him!  King David knew this and in Psalm 25:4 asked God to:

"Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour."

Choose a Special Time:

Jesus often went aside to lonely places and prayed.  Jesus found the best time was in the early morning and so will you.  You will be rested and calm.  Often the best available time is after you get up and before you have breakfast.  But, try and do it at the same time every day, as meeting with God is the most important time in your life.

Start with 5 minutes and find a portion or chapter to read in the Bible, for example from Psalms, Luke's Gospel or the book of Acts.  Ask God to show you wonderful things in the Bible and expect Him to do this.

Read, Think and Pray:

Think about what you have read for a while, and ask yourself what it means, and what does God want me to do?  Even though you may not understand all you read in the Bible, you can still obey what you can.  And then use a notebook to write down what the Lord teaches you.

Then spend some time in talking to God  Start by thanking and praising God for keeping you safe and giving you health and strength.  Then pray for your needs, your friends and family.  Pray for your school and teachers.  Use the notebook to keep a list of people and things that you want to pray for regularly, and write down God's answers.

End your Quiet-time by thanking God for being with you, and hearing what you had to say.  Then ask Him to bless you and guide throughout the day.

God bless!
