Building Faith:
When you do what the Bible says, you grow and it helps you walk in a way
that pleases God. Reading the Bible builds our faith and helps us
trust God to answer our prayers.
"Faith comes from hearing (that is doing)
and hearing (that is obeying)
by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17).
By Reading:
Children can learn from God's Word by reading a portion or a chapter in the
Bible every day. Besides reading, you can go to places where you
will hear God's Word, for example to Sunday School, Children's Church or
a Christian Club. David wanted to follow God and do what is right.
He said:
"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105).
By Thinking:
Just knowing what the Bible says is not enough. You must take time to
think about what you have read and heard, and then ask questions about what
it means to you, and how you should apply what you have learnt to your
life. Paul's message to young Timothy was:
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set
an example for other believers
in your speech, life, love, faith
and purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).
By Memorising:
Take time to memorise verses that you find that are helpful to you.
David did, and he said:
"I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You"
(Psalm 119:11).
By Sharing:
By doing what the Bible says every day, you will learn to turn from sin, to
love others, to be thankful and want to tell others about Jesus.
"Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you
to give the reason for the hope that you have" (1 Peter 3:15).
You can do all this during a Quiet-time, which is a special time you set aside
each day to visit with God. It's a time when God speaks to you as you
read His Word, and you talk to God in prayer.
God bless!
