Blindmen's Bluff
Purpose:
A leadership and team bonding contest where blind-folded teams have
to negotiate an obstacle course.
Materials Needed:
Enough Blind-folds for at least two teams.
Stopwatch.
Two long lengths of rope.
A number of small prizes.
Preparation:
Remove the group to another room and divide them into teams of five.
While they are outside, have helpers set up an obstacle course of chairs,
tables and other items. Rope guidelines are then tied to the
obstacles to make a "road" from start to finish of the course.
Age Group:
Grades 3 - 6 (9 to 12 years).
The Contest:
Blindfold one team and bring them to the start of the course.
They must form a tight group by holding onto each other and then
manouevre they way through the course by feel. Record the
time they take to complete the obstacle course. They can then
remove their blindfolds and sit down.
The next team is then brought in and their time recorded. The
winning team is naturally the one with the quickest time. You
could add a penalty of five seconds addition for each obstacle that
they bump into or move. Award prizes to first and second
winning times.
God bless!
