To demonstrate that each child is an essential part of their Sunday
School group. This game is good fun in the hall or at a camp.
It involves everybody in creating a beautiful web.
Grades 3 - 6 (9 to 12 years).
The whole group of kids stand in a large circle. A ball of string is
given to one person who must hold onto the end as he throws the ball to
another person in the circle. This continues and each time a person
catches the ball, they must hold onto the loop of string, and then throw
the ball to another person. This continues until everyone holds a
loop of string or until the ball of string runs out.
The string now connects each person and holds each one together. The
effect of sharing creates a beautiful web between the members of the
group. For this to happen, everyone had to participate! Now let
three or four people drop their loops and go and sit down. The web
becomes loose and the kids have to move out and widen the circle in order
to tighten the web again. Repeat this several times until the circle
becomes very large.
The result is that the kids move further away from each other each time
somone drops their string. This shows that the group needs to stay in
close contact with each other and that each person is essential for the
Sunday School to survive and grow.
God bless!
