This game will divide the kids into teams of a given size and help them
get to know one another. Tell them that when you were in school,
on freezing days all the children would find an sheltered corner and
then huddle as closely as possible to each other to try and keep warm!
Unfortunately, today the temperature has dropped to minus 20 and
all the children are about to freeze to death. The only way to
survive is to get together with others and huddle as closely as
possible!
To play this game, call out for example "Huddle Ten!" and when you blow
your whistle, the children must quickly huddle into groups of ten.
Repeat this several times with different sized groups. To
thoroughly mix the teams, call a number one or two below the last
size. For example say, "Huddle Eight!" so that each group has to
get rid of two members. These must then find others to form a new
team of the correct number.
If you call out a larger number, then each group must find the additional
kids by poaching them from a neighbouring group! When the groups
are thoroughly mixed, call out a number that will split everybody into
the team-size you wanted!
Have fun!
