Little Sins

God won't catch me out!

Texts:

James 4:7-8 and Ephesians 2:1-2.

Lesson:

The Apostle James saw that sin was sin, no matter how big or how small the sins were.  In James 4:7-8 he said:

"Submit yourselves to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will come near to you.
Wash your hands you sinners, and purify your hearts."

So what about lying?  Even if people think it's only a "white lie", it's a sin!  In fact a little lie is as bad as if you had killed someone.  Stealing a small slice of a cake ruins it and upsets the person who baked it for the party.  If you say, "I did my homework!" with your fingers crossed behind your back, that is a lie and it's a sin.

You say, "Surely little sins don't worry God, after all we're only children!"

Wrong!  There are no "Little sins" because saying or doing anything that is wrong is a sin.  God cannot stand sin, and the Bible says that the wages of sin is death (eternal separation from God).  We cannot commit a few "little sins" since the only way we can please God is be holy in all we do.

In Ephesians 2:1-2, the Bible says:

"As for you, you were dead in your wrongdoings and sins,
in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world."

Your faith in Jesus must make a difference to your way of life.  Otherwise you are dead in your sins (trespasses) and you don't have a living faith in our Lord!

Check your life today and make sure you have confessed all your sins to Jesus, and asked for His forgiveness, and for Him to clean all sin out of your heart.

God bless!
