Theme:
Jesus is the only way to Heaven.
Materials You Need:
Scissors.
Make copies of the pattern on A4 sheets of paper from the link below.
Effect:
Fold sheet diagonally along dotted line (1) and then (2) to form a house.
Fold flap (3) up and lastly fold (4) to complete the ticket.
The ticket is held on the vertical fold (with the small triangle pointing up).
Two cuts are made along lines (A) and (B) and these pieces spell "HELL"
and later in the lesson "LIFE". The folded portion you retain opens up into
a cross.
Text:
John 14:6.
Lesson:
(
Fold the ticket and hold the vertical fold). I need two
volunteers. Thank you. You will be Tom and you will be Jack in
our story. One day, two boys were riding on a train when it began to
sway violently from side to side. "We are going to crash," said Tom,
"Have you got a ticket to Heaven?" Jack replied, "No, but can I have
some of your's?"
Tom cut his ticket and gave Jack one third of it. Cut off a third
along line (A) and give the pieces to Jack). Tom looked at the
small piece of ticket he had given Jack and at his far larger piece.
"Here, take some more!" he said, and gave another third of the ticket to Tom.
(Cut off another third along line and give this to Jack and the rest
to Tom).
The Crash:
The train crashed and both boys came to the door of Heaven. "Why should
I let you in to My Heaven?" asked God. Tom unfold your ticket.
(
Tom's ticket unfolds into a cross). God said, "Well done Tom,
you have accepted Jesus as your Saviour, and now you can live with Me for
ever!"
Jack was relieved and hoped that everything was going to be fine for him.
He opened his ticket pieces and to his horror ... (Help Jack to
arrange his pieces to spell the word "HELL" and let the class see this).
"I'm sorry young man, but I don't know you, and you cannot enter My
Heaven," sighed God regretfully. Sadly Jack wandered away ... (
Loudly) AND WOKE UP!
Another Chance:
"Whew!" muttered Jack as he wiped the sweat off his brow, "What a dream!
That must never happen to me!" Later that week he went to Sunday School
and told his teacher about the terrible dream. "How can I get to
Heaven?" asked Jack. His teacher smiled and said, "Well, there aren't
any tickets to Heaven, but Jesus said:
"I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
Jesus the Only Way:
"You see," said Teacher, "Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins
(disobeying God). Our sins separate us from God and there is nothing we
can do to get to Heaven. Being born into a Christian home or being good
as gold won't get you to heaven. Jesus is the only way to Heaven, and
He has the power to cleanse us of our sins and make us acceptable to God.
"Then what must I do?" asked Jack. His teacher replied, "If you would
like to receive God's free gift of eternal life, then say a prayer telling
God that you haved sinned and need forgiveness. And that you believe
Jesus died for all the wrong things you have done, so that you live with Him
in Heaven forever.
Jack Finds Life!
Jack did this and then his teacher explained that he didn't have to go to Hell,
because he had accepted Jesus and now Jesus had given him everlasting life.
(
Help Jack to re-arrange the pieces into the word "LIFE").
Jack went home singing at the top of his voice. Now he was sure that if
he were to die, God would welcome him into Heaven!
Perhaps some of you have also not measured up to God's standards. You
feel bad inside because you know you have sinned and done wrong things.
Well, you can also say a prayer like Jack did, and ask Jesus to come
into your life, and change you inside and make you into a child of God.
Then, ask God to help you to obey Him, and begin to read the Bible and
pray every day, so that you can grow as a Christian and please God.
God bless!
