Two Ways for Lamb

Which way do I go?

Theme:

Only by going God's way and choosing to take Jesus as our Lord and Saviour will we be safe.

Materials You Need:

Scissors.
Make copies of the pattern from the link below:

Effect:

A lamb under a tree opens up to show two lambs, because Lamb has wandered away and must choose which way to go.  One lamb is torn off, because Lamb decides to return to the Good Shepherd.

Text:

John 10:11-14.

Lesson:

(Fold sheet vertically and cut out lamb and tree, but do not unfold).   Wooly was a little lamb who would not stay in the fold with the other sheep.  He was naughty and would not listen to the shepherd.  Lambs are like this aren't they?  (Let the children respond).   Every day he would run away even though the shepherd called him by name.

One day he wandered far away until at last it grew dark, and he found himself beneath a large tree.  He was all alone and he was frightened.   There was terrible danger from wild animals.  Should he stay and face possible death or return to the fold?  (Unfold tree and show both lambs).

The Good Shepherd:

What choice should he make?  (Let the children respond).  At last he decided return to the fold where there was safety in the hands of the Good Shepherd.  (Tear off one lamb).  Wooly slept safely that night knowing that he was protected by his shepherd.  John 10:11 says:

"I am the Good Shepherd.
The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

In Danger!

We too are in great danger as the devil desires to destroy our lives.  We must decide which way we want to go.  John 10:12-13 says:

"The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep,
so when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.
Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep."

Choosing God's Way:

Only by choosing to take Jesus as our Lord and Saviour will we be safe.   Jesus loves us and said that He would never leave us.  (Fold the sheet and cut out the Cross).  If we accept Jesus, we will find joy, peace and safety for our lives.  John 10:14 says:

"I am the Good Shepherd, I know my sheep and My sheep know Me."

I hope He is your Good Shepherd!

God bless.
