The "J" in Joy of the Lord Sculpture

Application:

Three balloons are formed into letters which spell the word "JOY". The letter "O" is changed into a heart to remind us that as we love and trust in Jesus, and He gives us "The joy of the Lord is which is our strength".

Materials You Need:

One E260 balloon (any colour).

Making the Sculpture:

Inflate a balloon except for 50mm.
Z-fold the balloon as shown in the figure.
Twist off into a sword shape, but with only a 25mm handle.
Sort out the loops to make the cross at the top of the "J".
Form the curve of the "J" by folding and squeezing the end of the balloon several times.
The letter "J" is now complete.

Lesson:

Letters are funny shapes when you really think about it. Let's make a "J" as it is the first letter in "JOY". What else can we do with a "J" letter?

The "J" can be held upside down as umbrella. We will have storms in our lives, but God has promised to hide us under the shelter of His wings. If we turn it right side up, we have a "J" for "Jesus" - the Author and Finisher of our faith and source of all our Joy.
