We need to grow as Christians by reading the Bible and memorising verses.
In this way we learn what God's will is, and what He wants us to do
in our lives day by day. God is pleased when we obey Him and do what
the Bible teaches us to do.
(Make the sword). Our sword reminds us that Paul said the sword
is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). If you were a soldier in Bible
days, you would be taught how to handle and use a sword in battle.
You cannot just hack and chop with a sword, you have to know how to guard
yourself against your opponent. Otherwise, he will finish you off!
God wants us to know His Word by memorising verses, and by being able to
quote them like Jesus did when the devil tempted Him. We can do the
same and learn to protect ourselves from temptations. We can also
use it when we pray. There are hundreds of promises in the Bible that
we can claim. Make sure you do what Psalm 119:11 says:
"I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."
I'm going to make a "Little Man" (
Make the "Little Man"). He's
like us and needs something to hang on to, so let's put him on the "Sword
of the Spirit". This shows us that we need to hide God's Word in our
hearts.
We can try to be good, but we will never please God as the Bible warns us
that our hearts are desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9-10). Well, what
can we do about this? David asked how a young man can keep his way
pure? And the answer was: by living according to God's Word and
seeking Him with all your heart.
Let's cling to God and obey His Word. Just like our "Little Man" is
clinging to the sword which is the Word of God. That way we allow the
power of God to fill our lives, and make us into the Child of God that He
wants us to be. Don't ever stray away from God's commands.
God bless!
